With a journey that stretches across more than three decades, Chris Jay has built a reputation as a selector with taste, depth, and an instinct for reading a room - whether that’s a packed dancefloor, a soul weekender, or a global online audience.
Rooted in soul, funk, jazz-funk, Jazz, R&B, and rare groove, his sound is both timeless and fluid. Expect seamless transitions from heritage artists like Earth Wind & Fire, The O'Jays, The Whispers and Donald Byrd into contemporary voices such as Moonchild, Jill Scott, Cleo Sol and Anthony Hamilton—all stitched together with finesse and musical storytelling.
Chris began DJing in his early teens, honing his craft at before evolving into radio, clubs, and specialist soul events. He has played across the UK and beyond, including appearances at Weekenders such as Caister, Soul Village, Ghetto Heaven and his 30-year affiliation with The Boating Club where his sets have become synonymous with quality, energy and good vibes.
As a broadcaster, Chris Jay is the voice behind two distinctive shows:
