Jazz Funk & Soul Show with Dave Francis

Dave first got into Jazz Funk, Soul and Disco back in 1979 when he used to listen to the likes of Locksmith, Slave, and Tony Rallo & the Midnight Band. Dave would sneakily listen to these, and other tracks from his Brothers record collection whilst he was at work.  In the early 80’s his brother, who was by now DJ’ing himself, used to take Dave along to gigs he was doing, firmly cementing Dave’s love of the genre.  A few years later and Dave met Nigel Watson (Starpoint Radio) who was debating whether to get back into DJ’ing.  Luckily he did, and Dave became his Roadie. Dave would Roadie again for another Nigel, Nigel Allen. It  was through Nigel Allen that Dave met one of his heroes, Les Adams.  Dave would listen to JFM, and Horizon and Greg Edwards back in the day, but his biggest influence was Robbie Vincent. Dave has been in radio for 14 years.  During this time, he has interviewed Lester Batchelor from Atmosfear, and Mr. RAH Band himself, Richard Anthony Hewson. Oh and by the way, Dave’s brother never did find out about him sneakily playing his records!  So if you ever meet him, Mums the word!!

Our message is in the music, we are one family under a groove! Street Sounds has had vinyl running through its veins since 1982.
