Most people know Jason from his time on TV, hosting Channel 5’s The Gadget Show - but the king of the geeks has also been a dedicated aficionado of electronic music since his formative years. As the early 80s unfolded, as a first generation breakdancer, Jason sought out the mesmerizing beats that could only be sourced on the early Street Sounds Electro albums.
When he wasn’t dancing, BMXing or trying his hand at graffiti, Jason was attempting to master the turntables—a passion that has remained unwavering over the span of 35 years. He now dabbles in his own music production, in his home studio in Cornwall from where he also hosts a regular 80s/90s culture Podcast.
It will come as no surprise to listeners of Street Sounds Radio that Jason’s regular Friday show, The Street Sounds Time Machine (1pm to 4pm) features a fun retro tech slot, in which he looks back at the seminal gadgets that defined that period. Alongside a weekly selection from his personal record box of Rap, Funk, House and Electro, Jason is keen to spin a few unexpected tunes each week that express the modern and timeless nature of the music he remains so passionate about.
