Based in Melbourne, Australia, DJ Matt Campbell has been DJing since 2000 and collecting records since the mid-1990s.
Matt credits his older brother as his main musical influence, recalling how his brother’s collection of house music sparked his passion for the genre. He vividly remembers hearing the classic Masters At Work track “To Be In Love” and India’s soulful, high-pitched vocals, which became a defining moment in his love for house music.
Specialising in disco, soulful vocal house, and main room house, Matt has been a fixture in Melbourne’s club scene since the early 2000s and has also played interstate with residencies and Sydney and Adelaide. Over the past two decades, he has held high-profile club residencies in Melbourne and enjoyed a successful radio career with Robbie Casa Blanco on Australia’s KissFM for many years.
Over the last five years, Matt has been a Defected and Glitterbox resident in Australia, supporting national/international DJs like Dr Packer, Todd Terry, Louie Vega, Riva Starr, Sam Divine, Mike Dunn, Low Steppa, Ferreck Dawn, Natasha Diggs, Melvo Baptiste, and Simon Dunmore.
To add to his resume throughout Matt’s career, he has also shared the stage with other legendary names such as Dave Lee, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Casual Connection, Peking Duk, Venga Boys, Masters At Work, Frankie Knuckles, Groove Assassin, Miguel Migs, Richard Earnshaw, John Julius Knight, Peggy Gou, James Curd, Alan Thompson, Audiowhores, Paul Farris, DJ Falcon, Knee Deep, and Ron Carroll, among others.
In addition to his club work, Matt has demonstrated his versatility by having an alter ego and co-founding Discovery - Daft Punk tribute show 13 years ago playing for Ministry of Sound and Pacha, which has taken him on tours across Australia, Asia, New Zealand, and parts of Europe.
