Riot Girl - The Jazz Funk & Soul Lounge - Sunday

Jess Princeton aka DJ Riot Girl, is resident DJ Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club. Also resident DJ for DIVA magazine’s Diversity Award events and Dame Kelly Holmes’ Athena Effect Events. Jess plays clubs across London. Her music career started as a jazz vocalist, coming from York University’s revered jazz department where Oscar Peterson was the Head of Music and worked the clubs in Toronto with Canada’s top jazz musicians.   In her early 20s Jess moved to France, fell into the hands of the renowned soprano Mady Mesplé at the Paris Conservatory, and soon after became a soloist at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, specialising in early and Baroque music. Later Jess moved to Scotland, completed a Masters in European Film Studies and became a French lecturer at Edinburgh University. Her move to London sealed her path to owning her own label and business in fashion  called Riot Lounge and continue her lifelong passion collecting jazz, funk and soul vinyl. Jess plays alongside Mike Vitti’s Funky Nation family of DJs Upstairs at Ronnie Scotts, Ronnie Herel’s FunkydoryLove crew, and with DJFraggs’ strictly vinyl crew, Poetic Funk, where the dance floor is filled with some of the best jazz / funk dancers around! Jess has been sharing her love of music DJing, as well as presenting radio shows for the past six year, and is currently contributing to SSR with her monthly Jazz, Funk and Soul Lounge.

Our message is in the music, we are one family under a groove! Street Sounds has had vinyl running through its veins since 1982.
