Sam Shelley is a young DJ & Remixer in the Soul, Funk & Disco scene based in London.
As a child growing up he was surrounded by the music his parents played at home and on car journeys. This included his Mum Disco collection, his late Dad’s Funk/Jazz-funk music and both of their Soul tracks. His Dad’s collection included people like Donald Byrd and Curtis Mayfield. His Mum was a Disco girl back in it’s late 70s heyday going to many London night spots and even once going to the world famous Studio 54, he loves telling people that.
Sam loves Soul, Funk, Jazz-funk, Brit funk, Rare Groove, Disco & Boogie music, his favourite artists include people like Chic, (featuring Nile Rodgers a very big hero of his), Earth, Wind & Fire & Donald Byrd. He is really enjoying this current revival of 70 & 80s Dance music.
In 2011 Sam did a short 4 week DJ summer course at Point Blank in East London then about 2 years later he did a DJ summer course for a month at London Sound Academy in Camden Town. In 2013 when Sam left school he went to music collage and enrolled at London School Of Sound in Clapham Common to study Music Production & Sound Engineering.
Sam has done DJ sets at various London locations and also abroad including: Soho House Greek Street, Soho House Dean Street, White City House, Ministry Of Sound, Egg, Lightbox, The Scotch Of St James, The Looking Glass Cocktail Club, Folklore & Proud. Over the summer of 2017 he played in Ibiza and has played 3 years running at ADE Amsterdam in October.
Sam got his first radio gig landing a weekly Sunday show on the online station NDC Radio. As you can gather from reading this Sam lives, eats and sleeps music. As Pattie Labelle said in 1979 “Music Is My Life”
