Simon’s broadcasting background commenced on-air working for some of London’s major radiostations including KISS 100, and then in-air as an Airborne Reporter delivering live, unscripted reports for LBC97.3, LBC News 1152 and Heart 106.2.In the 1990s, Simon got his first DJ gig...at Roller City in Welwyn Garden City, hosting weekday and evening skate sessions with a mix of disco, house, funk and soul. During this period, he met Graham Gold and began producing Gold's weekend specialist shows on Kiss 100 (read as: answering phones, making coffee, filling in PRS sheets and checking the fax machine!). Simon also worked alongside Judge Jules during his time at Kiss. In 1998, Simon joined the record label and management company‘ good :as’as a junior A&R assistant. There, he was part of the team that secured, managed and marketed music artists globally, helping to build the international profiles of artists like Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Ferry Corsten,who were then in the early stages of their careers. At LBC, Simon produced and co-hosted the popular weekday overnight call-in programme ‘Through the Night’ with British journalist Peter Deeley. He also served as the UK correspondent for QANTAS, contributing to Channel 9’s‘Up & Away’programme across their international routes. As a continuity announcer for the BBC Television network in Australia and New Zealand, Simon provided voice overs for‘BBC Worldwide’, ‘UKTV’and‘CBeebies’.Shortly after moving to Australia, he produced the weekday afternoon talk and call-in programme on ABC 702 Sydney. Simon also produced and hosted ‘A World of Music’for five years, a Saturday afternoon music programme broadcast live from Sydney to Brunei on Pelangi FM, showcasing the world’s best new music.
