Since 1979, Kurtis Blow has stood at the very foundation of Hip Hop culture. He was the first rapper signed to a major record label, the artist behind the first gold-certified rap single, "The Breaks", and a central figure in taking Hip Hop from the Bronx to the world. His influence helped open the doors for every generation that followed.
A defining voice of the culture’s early years, Blow has toured globally, performed alongside the architects of modern music, and shaped the sound, style, and spirit that would go on to define Hip Hop as a global movement.
