As one musical scene began to fade, another was waiting. The Jazz-Funk room at Nottingham Palais, later Rock City, came calling, and it was there that Andy’s lifelong love of Soul music really began.

In the years since, that love has developed into a genuine passion for discovering and sharing the big tunes, the rare tunes and, perhaps most importantly, the tunes that are about to become big.

After serving his apprenticeship supporting respected DJs such as Colin Curtis, Andy quickly established himself as a dancefloor-friendly DJ with an ear for exactly what works. That reputation has taken him to venues and events throughout the UK and across parts of Europe.

Along the way, Andy has appeared on the line-ups of some prestigious soul events, including Margate Soul Weekender, Blackpool Soul Weekend, Summer Breeze Corfu, Northern Soul Algarve, Bridlington Soul Weekender and Costa Del Soul in Spain.

His residencies have been equally diverse, from Jazz-Funk and Boogie nights in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, to Nu/Neo Soul events such as Luv 2 Groove in Sheffield, providing the perfect outlet for his wide-ranging musical tastes.

But Andy has never been content simply playing the records everyone already knows.

With a passion for breaking new music, he has been responsible for taking several tracks from early promotional releases to genuine dancefloor favourites. It’s that combination of musical knowledge, discovery and instinct that continues to define his sets.

Behind the microphone, Andy brings more than 25 years of radio experience, having presented on both commercial and specialist Soul music stations.

For Andy, joining Street Sounds Radio is another opportunity to celebrate the music, artists, DJs and people who have shaped his musical journey.
