Jane E's lifelong love of soul and disco began back in the 1970s, growing up surrounded by the unmistakable sounds of artists such as Sam Cooke and Stevie Wonder.

Then, around 1986, the musical journey took another turn after joining a record club called Out of the Past Records. Each month brought a selection of vinyl alongside expertly mixed rare groove tapes and from those first deliveries, a lifelong love affair with rare groove was born.

Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, the dancefloor was never far away, with many memorable nights spent dancing to soul and funk at Flicks/Zens in Dartford.

Fast forward to today and that passion for discovering music is stronger than ever. Hours can disappear searching online for that elusive “new” old track, the forgotten gem, overlooked B-side or impossibly rare record just waiting to be rediscovered.

That talent for unearthing desirable records has even earned the nickname “The Bankrupter” among fellow music lovers, thanks to regularly sharing those incredibly rare tunes that everybody suddenly wants in their collection… until they see the price!

And the dancing hasn’t stopped either. With a signature arms-in-the-air dance move, there’s another nickname that has stuck over the years: “Stretch Armstrong.”
