Jay T's journey began in 1982 with a first set of decks and a passion for the incredible music emerging at the time. Before long, weekends were spent DJing at youth clubs and house parties, building a collection packed with the best Jazz-Funk, Soul, Hip-Hop and Dance music of the early ’80s.

Saturday trips to JiFS Records in Chadwell Heath became a regular ritual — often with Steve Davis looking across the shop and probably wondering, “Who’s this kid?” And, of course, no record collection was complete without picking up the latest Street Sounds albums.

By the late ’80s, the emerging House music scene had taken hold. This led to appearances at clubs and radio stations across East London, along with residencies at several venues throughout London and Essex.

The ’90s brought another chapter with a move into music production and the creation of a record label. The releases found an influential supporter in the legendary John Peel, eventually leading to an invitation to record a coveted Peel Session.

Through every changing musical era, one thing has remained constant — a genuine love of great music.

Over the years, that passion has continued through radio, clubs and bars, while more recently it has found another home with a successful Club Classics night in Chelmsford, bringing together Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop and House.

Now that musical journey has come full circle, joining the Street Sounds Radio family and bringing decades of experience, memories and musical knowledge to the airwaves with Saturday Vibes.

Expect a soundtrack of Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, House and classic dancefloor favourites, alongside plenty of those special tracks that have shaped a lifetime behind the decks.
